The hearts of stars can live forever, but their bodies grow frail and weak. Long ago it was discovered if the heart is transplanted to a new body, the star will live on. Our story follows a star shepherd in his race against sunrise to save the life of a star.
I’ve always loved stars, and often stayed out late at night to watch for shooting stars when I was young. They have been a theme in much of the art I’ve created, informed by the poetry of Poe, Rilke and others, as well as the songs of bands such as AFI and Tiger Army. Every night I sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to my children before bedtime. Part of the inspiration for this short was to share my love of stars with my children, as well as give them something to watch on the nights I can’t make it home.
